Veteran Kannywood actress Zainab Musa Booth has died. She was 61-years-old.

Booth died on Thursday after a brief illness, according to her colleague Ali Nuhu, who announced her passing on his Instagram page.

“By Allah’s Grace, Haj Zainab Musa Booth has passed away,” Nuhu wrote in the caption. “May Allah have mercy on her soul and make paradise her abode, amen.”

Nuhu added that the funeral will be held at her home.

Booth was popular in the Hausa film industry, also known as Kannywood. She was known for portraying motherly roles in film.

Hajiya Zainab Musa Booth is survived by four children and two grandchildren.

Zainab Booth has a Fulani mother and a Scottish father and is the mother of actress Maryam Booth.
