Arthur Okonkwo (born 9 September 2001) is an English professional footballer who plays for Arsenal FC as a goalkeeper. Okonkwo was born in London, England.

Early Life and Career

Raised in London, England, Arthur began his career with Hampstead Academy and then with a youth club called Lindus Park before joining Arsenal. In season 2018/2019 he made his debut for Arsenal under-18s against Leicester City F.C under-18s and kept a clean sheet in the match. Arthur turned professional in September 2018.

Arthur made 14 appearances for Arsenal under-18s in season 2019/2020, with seven clean sheets and 12 goals conceded.

In 2019, he was selected as the Arsenal first-team squad member ahead of the second leg Europa League quarter-final against Napoli F.C. Later that year, he started to train with the Arsenal first-team squad by the request of U23 team manager, Freddie Ljungberg. He is now the number 76 of Arsenal’s First team squad in the 2019/2020 season.

On 9 July 2021, Arthur Okonkwo signed his first Arsenal first-team contract with the Gurners.

He has represented England at under-16, under-17, and under-18 levels.

On 9 July 2018, Arthur made his England under-18 team debut at the age of 16 against Russia U18. Arthur has now made four appearances for England at the under-18 level.

Okonkwo is of Nigerian descent, so he’s also eligible to represent the Nigeria national football team as both his parents are from Nigeria.
