Teniola Apata MON (born 23 December 1993), professionally known as Teni The Entertainer is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and entertainer.

Parents and family

Teni’s parents are Mrs. Margaret Apata (mother) and Rt. Brigadier General Simeon Olaosebikan Apata (father).

Teni’s mother, Mrs. Margaret Apata, is largely unknown, although Rt. Brigadier General Simeon Olaosebikan Apata is her father. Few people knew that he had served in the Nigerian civil war and as a retired Brigadier-General in the Nigerian army. He was renowned for his boldness; he didn’t give his neighborhood’s armed thieves and robbers a chance to get away. He developed many enemies due to this, and unfortunately for him, on January 8, 1995, gunmen in Lagos shot and killed him. Many were saddened by the news of his passing, particularly his family.Simeon Apata started a private school in 1980 when he was still living. Because he was a soldier, the private boarding school was operated militarily. The school was a success, with thousands of pupils and hundreds of teachers. The school was renamed Apata Memorial High School in his honor upon passing in 1995. His three widows currently run the school.

Teniola Apata was born into the Apata family on December 12, 1993. Teni is from Ilesa, an Osun State town. She was raised in Lagos, where she attended Apata Memorial High School, which her father owned. Teni’s father, former Brigadier General Simeon Apata, was slain on January 8, 1995, when Teni was just two years old.

Ex-Army Brigadier-General, Simeon Apata was a civilian war veteran with the Nigerian Army.

Those in the know also say while alive, the army man confronted armed robbers and killed some whose menacing acts in his locality were a source of worry.

Omoluwoleja SIMEON OLAOSEBIKAN APATA was born in Ilejemeje from Iye- Ekiti, Ekiti state, Nigeria.

He was assassinated by unknown gunmen on 8th January 1995. His death stunned Lagos and left a vacuum in his home.
The widows of Simeon Apata are Gladys Ify, Margaret Olayinka and Margaret Folajogun. They opened up to GREGORY AUSTIN NWAKUNOR on the last moment of their husband, saying, “the death created a big vacuum in their lives.”

According to sources, Teni’s father Simeon Apata was a wealthy retired army officer.

He founded the Apata Memorial High School in 1980.

The school reported to have about 1550 pupils and 150 teachers is regarded as a leading school in Oshodi-Isolo local government and one of the best in Lagos state attracting wards of the Nigerian elite.

Which means singer Teni was born into a well to do family before she found fame and made her own money.

Siblings

Teni The Entertainer, is the younger sister to established Nigerian singer and songwriter Niniola Apata, better known by her stage moniker Niniola. In 2013, she participated in Project Fame West Africa’s sixth season. She received a 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards nomination for Most Promising Act to Watch after releasing her debut track, “Ibadi.” She was awarded a Grammy nomination certificate in April 2020 for her work as a composer on The Lion King: The Gift. For her contribution as a composer for The Lion King: The Gift, she was awarded her Grammy second nomination certificate in June 2021. The Grammy Recording Academy inducted Niniola into its Class of 2021 in the same month.

Teniola reportedly has another sibling in the person of Dr. Tejumola Apata, though that information has not been verified.

Teni is currently single and not yet married. Teni has never been married before and has no wedding record.
