RDX: Robert Dony Xavier (also known as RDX) is a 2023 Indian Malayalam-language action film directed by Nahas Hidayath in his directorial debut, and produced by Sophie Paul under Weekend Blockbusters. It stars Antony Varghese, Shane Nigam, Neeraj Madhav in the lead roles, alongside Lal, Babu Antony, Mahima Nambiar, Aima Rosmy Sebastian, Maala Parvathi and Baiju in supporting roles. The music is composed by Sam C. S., while the cinematography is done by Alex J. Pulickal.

RDX was released on 25 August 2023 during Onam and received positive reviews from critics.

Plot

Robert and his brother Dony along with their best friend Xavier train themselves in martial arts and boxing under the supervision of Xavier’s father Antony, who is also the friend of Robert and Dony’s father Philip. Robert, Dony and Xavier always entangled in fights, which causes headache for the families. To make matters worse, Robert, Dony and Xavier gets involved in a brawl with a group of people in a colony during the Perunnal in Kochi. After this incident, the trio are not much involved in street fights and part ways.

Years later during a Perunnal, Dony thrashes a gang which picked up a quarrel with his father Philip. In retaliation, the same gang attacks Dony and his family in the middle of the night, where Robert learns about the situation and joins Dony in exacting revenge. Robert and Dony captures one of the henchman who was present on the night of the attack and learns that Paulson arranged the attack as he wanted to exact revenge on them for the Perunnal fight in Kochi. The duo reach the colony, but are attacked by the henchmen who knew about their arrival.

Robert and Dony fights the henchman and manages to escape with the expected arrival of Xavier. Paulson tells his henchmen to secretly attack Robert and Dony’s family at the hospital, but Robert, Dony and Xavier learn about this and escapes from the hospital with their families. They escape in an ambulance and are chased by Paulson and his men, where they end up in a playground. Robert, Dony, Xavier and Antony fights with Paulson and his group, where they finally defeat Paulson. In the aftermath, Robert, Dony and Xavier becomes the new teacher of Antony’s school.

Production

RDX: Robert Dony Xavier is directed by debutant director Nahas Hidayath. Antony Varghese, Shane Nigam and Neeraj Madhav are cast in the lead roles, alongside other actors like Lal, Babu Antony, Mahima Nambiar, Aima Rosmy Sebastian, Maala Parvathi and Baiju. Touted as an action thriller, the film mounted on a massive budget. On technical front, Rasheed Shabazz and Adarsh Sukumaran have penned the screenplay and dialogues for the film, while Sam C. S. is hired as the music director and Manu Manjith has written the lyrics for the songs. Alex J. Pulickal is hired for the cinematography while Chamman Chacko handled the editing. Stunt choreographer duo Anbariv are hired to design the action sequences.
