Meta to pay Nigerian content creators on Facebook and Instagram from June 2024

Meta has revealed its plans to enable Nigerian content creators on Facebook and Instagram to monetize their content, providing them with a means to earn a living through the platform starting June 2024.

During a meeting at the presidential villa, Metaโ€™s President of Global Affairs, Sir Nick Clegg, unveiled this initiative to President Tinubu, emphasizing the companyโ€™s commitment to empowering creators in Nigeria.

President Tinubu welcomed Metaโ€™s decision, highlighting Nigeriaโ€™s readiness to embrace digital innovation and lead the African continent in technological advancement. He expressed confidence in Nigeriaโ€™s youth, describing them as vibrant, gifted, and resourceful.

Recognizing the importance of preparing Nigerian youth for the future economy, Tinubu mentioned the governmentโ€™s 3MTT programme. This initiative, overseen by Minister of Digital Economy Bosun Tijani, aims to train three million youths in digital technology and essential skills. These trained individuals will then be deployed to various innovation hubs across the nation, ensuring they are equipped to compete globally.

Metaโ€™s move to support Nigerian creators aligns with Nigeriaโ€™s vision of fostering digital inclusion and economic empowerment. With this development, Nigerian creators can look forward to leveraging their creativity to not only entertain but also sustain themselves financially in the digital age.
