John McGinn (born 18 October 1994) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Aston Villa, where he is team captain, and the Scotland national team. McGinn previously played for St Mirren and Hibernian, and also represented Scotland at the under-19 and under-21 levels. He made his full international debut in March 2016, representing Scotland at UEFA Euro 2020.
Parents and family
Raised in Clydebank where he attended St Peter the Apostle High School, John is the third of four children to parents Stephen and Mary. He has a twin sister, Katie, and his older brothers Stephen and Paul are also professional footballers. All three brothers have been with both St Mirren and Hibernian at some stage in their careers. Their grandfather Jack McGinn is a former Celtic chairman and Scottish Football Association president.
Wife and Children
SCOTLAND star John McGinn has announced his engagement to long-term girlfriend Sara Stokes.
McGinn and Stokes have been together since 2014.
McGinn was out in Dubai with his Aston Villa teammates and after training was done and dusted he sought to spend some romantic time with his other half – and ask her to be his future wife.
The midfield ace posted a photo of him and his missus on a boat on Instagram, sipping champagne and giving a glimpse of the beautiful clear blue waters in the background.
He captioned it with a simple message: “The future Mrs McGinn ❤️️”
Fans plus fellow and former professionals were quick to congratulate the happy couple and send them well wishes.Ex-Rangers and Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard led the way. He replied saying: “Congrats to you both 🔥”.
Former Villa teammate Ross Barkley said: “Congrats lad 🙌”Other pros to send their regards to the future Mr and Mrs McGinn were Kortney Hause, Alex Bruce and Conor Hourihane.
John McGinn and Sara Stokes are yet to have kids at the moment.
