Samuel Ikechukwu Edozie (born 28 January 2003) is an English professional footballer of Nigerian origin who plays as a midfielder and winger for Premier League club Manchester City.
Early Life and Career
Born in England, Edozie is of Nigerian descent through his parents. He is a youth international for England. His full name is Samuel Ikechukwu Edozie and it is very glaring that the young man has a Nigerian heritage which could be traced right from his name “Ikechukwu Edozie” which is associated mainly with the People from the Eastern part of Nigeria known as the Igbos. It could well be said that either or both of his parents are Nigerians. Edozie was Born on the 28th of January, 2003 in London, England.
Edozie began his career in the youth system at Millwall before moving to Manchester City in July 2019 for a reported seven-figure fee.
Manchester City Youngster, Samuel Edozie has come under the spotlight in July and early August 2021 after featuring in all of the Cityzens pre-season matches ahead of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.
The high-flying teenager featured in all of Manchester City’s pre-season games and was also on target in all games, scoring a goal each against lower division teams, Preston, Barnsley, and Millwall.

Born in England to Nigerian parents, the 18-year-old has been a key figure in the club’s U23 ranks since moving from Millwall on July 1, 2020. Presently, he is part of Guardiola’s squad preparing for the new campaign and has stepped up to the demands of senior football scoring in each of the club’s last three matches.
Edozie has made the most of the chances he’s been given after replacing Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling, who are still not back from their breaks.
Edozie arrived from Millwall for an initial £400,000 in 2020 and was in the right place at the right time to score the early opener as City beat Blackpool 4-1 on Tuesday 3rd July 2021.
Edozie also scored against Preston and Barnsley in the last week, giving him a three-goal pre-season haul that only Riyad Mahrez can match.
City boss Guardiola now says the youngster has plenty of promise.
“Like all of them, as a young talent having a special quality, a guy who gets to the box with the intention to score the goal is important for wingers,” he said.

After impressing in 2021–22 pre-season, Edozie made his Manchester City debut on 7 August 2021, being named in the starting lineup for the 2021 FA Community Shield. Manchester City lost 1-0 to Leicester City in the encounter.

The youngster is also part of the young Three Lions squad of England. He made his debut for England U-18 on the 29th of March, 2021 in a friendly game against Wales which England won 2-Nil.
Edozie has dual citizenship as he is both Nigerian and English. The young man grew up in England where he was born.
Samuel Edozie is gradually becoming a popular figure back in his country of origin, Nigeria and one can never tell what the future holds. The young man may join the numerous Nigerians-born and brought up in England who decided to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the senior level.
