The Oyo-born Actress is one of the leading female comedians in Nigeria and has become a household name within a few years.
Growing up, she was often called Dolapo by her family, close friends, and neighbors. Although she is originally from Ijebu Land in Ogun State, Modola Osifuwa was born and raised in Oyo State. She spent her formative years residing in Ibadan City, the capital of Oyo State.
She grew up in a middle-class neighborhood in Ibadan and was raised in the Christian faith by her religious parents. As a young girl and teenager, she attended a local Pentecostal church. Since she was a child, Modola Osifuwa has shown a flair for the arts. A gifted storyteller, Modola often penned down stories in her leisure hours.
During her elementary and secondary school days, she was a prominent member of the Drama Club and Drama Society. Career
In her undergraduate days at LAUTECH, Modola Osifuwa worked as a part-time model. She was signed up with a local modeling agency in Oyo State and hired for different modeling gigs. While in the university, she began collaborating with creatives in the institution. She worked with a few indie filmmakers on some short films, playing lead and sub-lead roles in the projects.
After graduating from the university, Modola Osifuwa moved to Lagos State and began working in the creative industry. She got signed to a leading modeling agency in the City and began to work as a freelance commercial model for top brands in the country. While working as a model, she decided to forge a career path in the Nigerian film industry.
However, she waited to break into the industry even though she auditioned for many film and TV roles. Instead, she began working with skit-makers in the comedy industry. Modola Osifuwa soon struck gold in the skit-making business and became a leading actress in the industry. Many top skit-makers in the country began hiring her to collaborate on their projects.
Over the years, Modola Osifuwa has become a household name in the Nigerian entertainment industry. She has carved a distinct brand for herself because of her impeccable command of the English language. She has a British accent and can easily switch from English to Yoruba or Pidgin. She has appeared in over a hundred comedy skits and has worked with a host of comedians.
While building her acting career, Modola once revealed that she would play a nude character in a movie if she is offered 10 million dollars. She said this in an interview with Adetola Films where she mentioned that the money is too huge to let go. She added that her body has no use if it can’t make money for her unlike people who expose their body on the beach for nothing.
In her words, “I will do it absolutely. I mean we came into the world naked and we will also go back the same way. Money is very important. 10 million dollars? Not in Naira! When I am done, I will be very proud because I already have the money and whatever you say to me does not matter.”
