More on Ansu Fati family background
At the age of six, Ansu Fati’s family moved to Spain and settled in Herrera, Seville. The move came at a time when his older brother, Braima Fati, signed for Sevilla. Since Braima was young, his parents had to accompany him in Spain, as per UEFA rules. Boji Fati, his father, became his agent. In December 2009, the Peloteros football academy registered him as a football player.
It is in the town of Herrera that Ansu Fati experienced his childhood. He started playing football and went to train with local teams. Apart from playing for CDF Herrera, the local youth team, he joined the youth team of Sevilla FC in 2010.
Fati spent two years with Sevilla until 2012 when he captured the attention of several clubs. Both Real Madrid and Sevilla wanted to sign him. But his father opted for FC Barcelona. In 2012, Ansu Fati joined La Masia, which is FC Barcelona’s youth academy. Aged 10 at that time, the dream of a young Guinean raised in the small town of Herrera came true.
